Morocco: HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa Stresses Need to Build On Achievements of Young Reporters for Environment Programme

The international praise received by the Young Reporters for the Environment programme has provided an incentive to build on achievements and continue improving this "model" programme to ensure sustainability, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa said on Saturday in Rabat.

In a speech on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Young Reporters for the Environment programme, HRH the Princess stressed the need to build on achievements and to enhance the programme on the basis of a three dimensional approach.

In this respect, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa called for ensuring the programme competition is held at regional level in order to increase the number of participants and have iterms of a better quality that reflect the reality of local development issues while taking into account applicable national guidelines.

The second dimension pertains to involving secondary school students and their teachers and establishing regional connections between these students, teachers and the civil society groups operating in the field of environment conservation and sustainable development, HRH the Princess went on to say.

Under the third element, training and capacity building activities should be promoted benefiting stakeholders involved in the programme, especially journalist, HRH the Princess said.

"Considering the success of this program and the positive reactions at the national, regional and international levels, and in order to promote he exchange of expertise and experience between the stakeholders involved in the area of environmental education, Morocco will, under the high patronage of His Mejesty King Mohammed VI and in partnership with our Foundation, have the honor of hosting the Seventh World Environmental Education Congress in June 2013," announced HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa.

This Congress will, thus, be held for the first time in an Arab or Islamic country with the participation of representatives from 80 countries, added the Princess.
