South Africa on Tuesday accused UN Security Council powers of "conveniently" ignoring human rights abuses in the disputed territory of Western Sahara.
The council again rejected growing demands for the UN peacekeeping force in the Moroccan-controlled territory to have a permanent rights investigation duty.

Morocco's prime minister has hit out at courtiers around King Mohammed in rare criticism that could signify the start of a confrontation between the Islamist-led government and powerful figures close to the palace.
Moroccan authorities, under pressure from the "Arab Spring" upheavals elsewhere in the region, held early elections last year which for the first time handed power to the opposition PJD party of moderate Islamists.
Since then, analysts have been predicting a stand-off between the government, which is committed to tackling corruption and poverty, and a moneyed elite with long-standing ties to the palace.

Morocco's coalition government has been torn by a fierce debate over new media guidelines that some say require public TV and radio stations to be more religious. Communications Minister Mustapha Khalfi from the newly elected moderate Islamist party issued the new guidelines for public broadcasters in early April that include measures such as banning lottery advertisements and mandating the broadcast of the call to prayer five times a day.
