The ambassador of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland to Morocco, Timothy Colin Morris, said that the United Kingdom "has very deep respect" for Morocco's "long history of religious tolerance and diversity," highlighting "the enormous contribution of British Muslims in our country." In an interview published Monday by the Moroccan daily [Le Matin du Sahara et du Maghreb], Timothy Colin Morris said "the Moroccan community in the United Kingdom makes a very important contribution to the British economy."

Referring to the excellence of Moroccan-British relations which are characterized by deep mutual respect, the British diplomat said that "these relations are those of partnership."

"We have always opted to make them very dynamic, seeking new areas of positive cooperation," He explained.

At the political level, Mr. Morris said that the two countries hold regular consultations through a ministerial forum for dialogue, whose next meeting will take place at a date to be decided shortly.

On the economic level, the British diplomat said that there is "still potential to do more business and investment", adding that "Morocco is an outward-oriented country and is successfully liberalizing its domestic market, which is a good news for the United Kingdom and other European countries."

As for the Moroccan-British businessmen Council, Mr. Morris said that the objective of his country is to develop this partnership and to increase the number of British companies investing in Morocco in several sectors of activity such as services, finance, tourism, and the automobile industry.

Regarding Morocco’s request for an advanced status with the EU, he stressed that his country's position is "very positive", adding that "we are getting close to an important stage in discussions related to this agreement.”

I''m deeply touched by the kind words that our British Ambassador used to
describe the Moroccan Tradition of Tolerance throughout the history of the
Kingdom of Morocco.
I remember in 1987,when King Hassan visited the UK at the
invitation of the Queen ,his first words to the Moroccans living in the UK were
" We are proud of our Moroccan community that are law abiders and tolerant
,respecting the rules of this country and we advise you to be good ambassadors
of your country Morocco and demonstrate that you are good citizens in the UK by
raising your standard of living and bringing up your children to show respect
for the values of both countries Morocco and UK " .

We need to see more
cultural and social exchanges at all levels of both countries ,especially
encouraging younger generations to perpetuate those values that we all sherish
and respect .

In that Morocco has just expelled more than 20 Christians because they were
living out their faith in a positive respectful way and were meeting needs that
they were seeing around them, I am not so sure that this report is accurate any
longer!

Maybe we should re look at Morocco in the last week. I think the tide has
turned and it is not such a country of religious tolerance. There has been over
30 ex- pat's kicked out and escorted to the airport, leaving behind many broken
hearted children. Two home for unwanted kids have been targeted. One, was
given 7 hours notice to all non Moroccans and escortedout. 31 little children
were stripped of their "parents" that day
