Message from Head of Lower School

Welcome to The American School of Tangier’s Lower School! Our Lower School includes the Early Childhood Education Center, as well as Grades 1 – 5. We have approximately 160 students from Kindergarten 1 (pre-school age) through Grade 5. Our faculty and staff work collaboratively to provide outstanding instruction in a learning environment that promotes academic excellence. All of the core subject areas are taught in English: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. We also prepare our students for success in an increasingly global world through early introduction to Classical Arabic and French.

Our academic curriculum is supported by a social curriculum. Collaboration, effective problem-solving skills, understanding cultural diversity, and respect for one’s self and others are all skills we believe our young students need to become responsible global citizens.
