The American School of Tangier's diploma is recognized and accepted by the United States Department of State's Office of Overseas Schools and United States colleges and universities to which students apply.

Mission Statement:  The Mission of the American School of Tangier is to inspire all students to become responsible global citizens through ambitious academic and social development.

Vision Statement: The American School of Tangier will be recognized as a regional leader in providing outstanding instruction, guidance and support to all its learners.

Values Statement:  The American School of Tangier values the following:

  • · High expectations and strong education to inspire and challenge all learners.
  • · Personal integrity and a respect for others.
  • · A commitment to relevance in instruction including the use of the latest technologies.
  • · A commitment to developing critical thinking skills and a strong sense of personal worth.
  • · A genuine partnership with the community at large.
  • · Clear target setting and authentic assessment.
  • · The expectation that all students will attend post-secondary institutions.
  • · An understanding that the AST Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLR’s) and Student/Parent handbook drive campus life and implementation of the School curriculum.

Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLR’s) Statement:  Students will display the following thorough their coursework:

• Demonstration of mastery of subject area content

• Demonstration of the ability to think critically, and problem-solve effectively

• Demonstration of the ability to work individually and collaboratively to solve problems

2. Effective Communication:

• Demonstration of the ability to speak and act persuasively in multiple languages

• Demonstration of the ability to listen and collaborate effectively

• Demonstration of positive inter- and intra-personal skills

3. Global Appreciation:

• Demonstration of the ability to appreciate different languages and cultures

• Demonstration of social responsibility, empathy, and cultural understanding

• Demonstration of respect for one’s self and his/her surroundings

• Demonstration of participation in diverse social groups

4. Community Involvement:

• Demonstration of the ability to help others in need
