Community Outreach Expanding:
Thanks to the volunteer efforts of six students from the American School of Tangier (AST), the core “curriculum” of Arabic literacy classes and manual skills  instruction, now includes art and computer classes for neighborhood youth. Other AST volunteers are teaching French and English to medina women—and a Spanish volunteer is teaching Spanish.  The Legation’s community outreach program, remains popular, attracting new members each year.

Conference and reception for Tangier Author: A book-signing and reception was held at the Legation for community leader and social activist, Rachid Tafersiti, author of several books on Tangier. His latest book and first novel, “Retou rà Tanger,”describes the reminiscences of a former Tangier  resident now living in Belgium.

The Legation along with Abdelmalek Essadi University in nearby Tetouan and the National Institute of Applied Sciences held book-signing events for Tafersiti.  The event at the Legation attracted a full house.
